“Half of my advertising works and the other half doesn’t. The only problem is I don’t know which half is which”
Anyone ever heard that?
Anyone ever said it?
When it comes to marketing the most important thing you can do is to measure the results.
Properly.
Not – “I haven’t noticed the phone ringing more”
Not – “I’ve been really busy so it must be working”
Do it properly.
If you get a phone call ask them how they found you.
If they found you online then where online did they find you.
If it was on Google then what did they type in to find you on Google.
Ask the questions so you know how and where to invest your money.
What are your KPI’s?
The best metrics for an SEO campaign is rankings on Google and Organic traffic to your website.
Where were you ranked for a search term when you started the campaign?
Where are you now?
How many people looked at your site this month?
How does it compare to last month?
Your business might be seasonal so month on month might be irrelevant so how does your traffic compare to the same time last year?
Maybe your goals aren’t rankings or traffic but just more sales.
How are you measuring?
Number of transactions or overall revenue?
Set your your goals, measure the results.
It’s your business, your responsibility.

So 80% of your revenue will come from 20% of your customers. The other side of this though is that 80% of your problems will also come from 20% of your customers.
If we know though that 80% of our results will come from 20% of our actions then it does mean we can focus on the 20% to give us some quick wins.
If 20% of the work gets you 80% of the results then utilise the following quick wins in SEO.
1. Keyword Research:
For every page of your website, ask yourself what would you want people to type in to find that page. Come up with a primary search term and a secondary search term.
2. Page Titles:
Put your primary search term and secondary search term into your page title in the correct order – no more than 65 characters.
Ideally format it as – Primary search term | Secondary search term | Company name
3. Content:
Have content on every page – if you are e-commerce don’t just have your products on your category page have 150-200 words of content explaining what the page is about.
Just 3 simple factors that don’t take too much time but will get you quick wins and some quick results.
