Nowadays everything is available in the form of an app. You can order food, watch a movie or book a holiday all from your phone. But as marketers we don’t care about Kentucky Fried Chicken, the latest Hollywood blockbuster or a trip to Barbados – we want to run ads, improve rankings and grow our business. Well maybe, we would like that trip to Barbados too but in this post, we are going to be focusing on the apps every marketer needs to run their marketing from their phone.
Sometimes we are not our desks or pulling out a laptop isn’t practical but that shouldn’t stop busy marketers from doing what we do best. Thanks to smartphones it just takes a few apps to manage our marketing campaigns. Whether you want to talk to customers, run Facebook ads or check your website analytics there’s an app for it.
SEO
When it comes to SEO, Google is our best friend. Unsurprisingly the tech giant has made all its best tools into apps. In addition to Google maps, Google translate, and Gmail you can also get Google Ads, Google My Business and Google Analytics as apps. You’ll probably find you prefer the desktop versions, especially if that’s what you’re used to using, but these apps will do the trick if you only have your phone to hand.
Social Media
It goes without saying that if you use social media to market your business (and you should be) you need those platforms downloaded on your phone. Downloading all of them might be a bit much. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit, Tik Tok and so many more, it can be hard to keep up with all of the platforms that exist today. Thankfully you can download whichever ones your company uses to your phone for easy access. Some of these social media platforms are best used on mobile like Instagram which is notoriously frustrating to use on desktop. And whilst an Insta DM is always an option we recommend Facebook Messenger as a means of communicating directly with your customers through social media.
Post Scheduling Tools
If you’re using social media to market your business don’t stop at just downloading the platforms themselves. Maximise your posting productivity with scheduling apps. Batch write your posts and schedule them to go out later. Some apps like Facebook allow you to easily do this within the app but post schedulers such as Hootsuite and Buffer will allow you to manage post scheduling for a variety of social media platforms all in one place.

Facebook’s success is in no small part due to how well they moved from a desktop-first platform to focusing on creating a great mobile experience. As such the company has maintained its mobile app focus when catering for the businesses using its platform. Facebook has created several app versions of their tools. The most notable of these tools are Pages Manager for when admins and editors need to make quick changes on the go and Ads Manager for creating, monitoring and amending your Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns.
Image Editing
So now you know you can schedule your social posts ahead of time but how do you go about actually making them. Surely you can’t make eye-catching graphics for your posts on your phone. Except you can, great apps such as Canva come with fantastic templates for most of the major social media platforms. For stock photos, Shutterstock offers a mobile app and there are countless photo editing and aftereffects apps to choose from including those from the Adobe.
It seems apparent that today’s tech giants like Facebook and Google are fully committed to the mobile experience and so whilst they perfect their apps for consumers, they’re also making continuous efforts to allow marketers to access their platforms on the go. Whether you need to create social media posts, schedule them or need to get deep into your analytics and crunch numbers there’s an app for that.
