What is an Asset Library?
Google is forever expanding the Google Ads platform to give users more control and ease of use. The Asset Library is the new home to all of the images and videos you upload to the Google Ads platform. It keeps them convenient and easy to reach if you decide to reuse creatives in multiple campaigns. Another benefit of the Asset Library is that it can be used across different devices, so if you’re working with a team, everyone has access to creatives. The feature is available in certain ad extensions, Performance Max, Discovery, Display, Local & App campaigns.
What’s in the Asset Library?
There are multiple sections to the Asset Library, each with its use, including; Suggested, Asset Library, Upload, Website or Social, and Free Stock Images.
Suggested
This part of the Asset Library will show recommended images based on the final URL of your campaign and the targeting used.
Upload
This section is pretty self-explanatory! This is where you can upload pre-made images or videos to the platform. Once added, there isn’t any easy way to remove the asset from the account, so it's important to be cautious of what you are uploading; a good way of doing so is by naming files correctly.
Website or Social
This section can save some time if you are an agency. For example, downloading images from a website or social media accounts can be time-consuming. This feature will scan all connected social accounts and any URL you enter for any creatives that could potentially be of use. Images and videos wouldn’t be added to the Asset Library until they were used.
Free Stock Images
Here, you can enter words, phrases, or URLs related to your business, and Google will present you with free stock images to use. This is a great feature for those who don't have the resources to generate their own creatives - although, be cautious of using images with watermarks on them as this can come across as less credible. We always advise you to use your own creatives where possible!
Asset Library
This is where all creatives uploaded, pulled from the website or socials, or selected free stock images will be shown. This is where the feature is great for collaboration across a team, as creatives can remain consistent throughout different campaigns without re-uploading.
How to Make Videos in Google Ads
As every marketer knows, video marketing is absolutely everywhere at the minute. From user-generated content on the likes of TikTok, Instagram & YouTube to huge corporations putting out paid and organic content. By connecting with your audience via video marketing, you can do so on a deeper level. Whatever point of the marketing funnel you aim to hit, video marketing can do the job.
Not all businesses can create all-singing-all-dancing videos, as these take time, effort, equipment, and expertise! To combat this and give smaller businesses a better chance at succeeding, Google Ads has added a video creation feature.
Video Creation
Videos can be created in various orientations using the customisable templates provided in which you add creatives from your Asset Library to create a small video and showcase your products and services. During creation, you can add images, voiceovers, and text as well as the ability to change the colour or font to suit your business. The templates were designed to be easy to change to fit your brand image and look professional with a varying number of images needed for each one.
Voiceovers within the video creation feature in Google Ads can be done via AI. All you would need to do is input the speech and have one of 7 voice options available to speak over your video!
